Welcome To The Dumfriesshire And Cumbria Greyhound Rescue Website

Rehoming Greyhounds Since 2002.

We find new, forever homes for retired or injured ex-racing greyhounds.
We never put a healthy dog to sleep and will look for the right home for as long as it takes,
caring for all aspects of their welfare until then.
Please have a look at our homeless greyhounds and contact us for more information about adopting or fostering.

Can You Offer A Homeless Dog A New Start?

We have rehomed over 2,000 dogs in just over 20 years but there are still greyhounds waiting for safe and loving homes.
Do you have room in your heart and home for one of these gentle animals? They need your help.

We are a registered charity entirely staffed by volunteers who raise all our own funds for the greyhounds in our care.
You may not be able to adopt a dog, but could you help us in other ways? Contact us to get involved.

Loyal, Loving, Relaxed & Gentle.

Contact us today for more information on living with a greyhound.

You might be surprised how easy they are to care for and how affectionate they are to live with.

Adopt a greyhound with our help. Make a new best friend and change their life forever.

Special Appeal

Dan: A Special Appeal For Help

Dan is our most overlooked dog. A handsome 4 year old boy who is loving, house trained, travels well and is great with children. We can’t understand why he is still waiting to be adopted, but we are asking, please, help us find this boy his forever home soon.

Could you be the right person for this amazing boy? Could you help us spread the word to find him a loving home? Please read on for further information…

Monthly Walk

This Month’s Walk Is Watchtree Nature Reserve!

Our group walk and get together for June will be at Watchtree Nature Reserve, Wiggonby CA5 6NL, in a circular route enjoying the amazing wildflower meadows, woodland and wetland habitats full of local wildlife.

The facilities are great too and you might like to join us after the walk at the cafe for amazing sausage rolls and the Gelato Shack for doggy and human ice-cream.

The walk starts at 10.30am on Saturday, 27th June, 2026. Hope to see you all there!

Recent News

Amazing Fundraising Achievement!

Our wonderful supporter, adopter, organiser and volunteer Helen, set herself a huge target this year: to raise money for the homeless hounds by completing a 3 part, physically gruelling, momentous Spring Challenge.

Helen planned to run the Cross Border 10k race from Carlisle to Gretna in February, the Carlisle half marathon in March and walk the mighty 96mile West Highland Way in April.

We were speechless at the thought, in awe of her efforts and overwhelmed with gratitude by her results…

What We Do

We look for forever homes or foster places for retired or injured, ex-racing greyhounds. We never put a healthy dog to sleep and will look for a home for as long as it takes.

We raise all our own funds through events, donations and sales in our charity shop. All our staff are volunteers and all our income is used for the welfare of the dogs in our care.

If you see a greyhound you might like to join your family, or would like to get involved, please call us on 07873 381470 for a brief, no-obligation chat to find out more.
